Welcome everybody to my July newsletter. I hope it finds you all doing well and that even in this trying economy, youíve found a bit of prosperity and abundance. Abundance isnít just about money, it is about an abundant life which means a life that is filled with love, laughter, fun, money, good health, excitement, fulfillment and anything else you can think of that would give you joy and satisfaction.

Read on to find out more about my thoughts on abundance and how to get more of it into your life.

Abundance

As I said above, abundance isnít just about money or possessions, having an abundant life means you are living a rich, satisfying, fulfilling and joyful life that is filled with everything you want and desire but especially, it is filled with laughter, love, excitement and yes, money and success.

At the core of an abundant life is the ability to control and direct your thoughts.

Life often requires us to do things we donít want to and things we donít enjoy doing. As a result, we can get used to feeling frustrated and it is easy to imagine and slip into the negative thought that we will never get the chance to indulge ourselves in activities that we want to do or live the life that weíve dreamed of.

Because of this, we can start to believe that it is our destiny to feel frustrated and dissatisfied to such an extent that when an opportunity for change does come along, weíve gotten so wrapped up in survival that we just donít see it or if we do see it, we donít trust it to be real.

The future, indeed, your future is a place that you are creating each and every moment of each day. You create your reality each and every day with your thoughts. Your life does not have to be determined by the whims, addictions and negative behaviors of those around you or even your own past.

It is our perception of any event, incident, occurrence, activity or situation that determines whether we consider it a positive or negative experience. Whether we consider ourselves to be happy or sad, have feelings of joy or hopelessness, think we are making progress or stagnating; and it is this very ability that may be the most powerful tool each of us has at our disposal to shape and guide our present and our future.

Even when we know we have this tool, sometimes we simply choose not to use it. Perhaps it is easier to place the blame for all the negativity in our lives on someone or something else thereby abdicating any personal responsibility whatsoever; but in reality you have the power to take control of your thoughts and perceptions and live the life you dream of.

In order to make changes, however, you need to look at the limiting themes that have repeated themselves in your life, usually as a result of fear. Fear of change, fear of failure, even worse, fear of success. Maybe youíve carried that old baggage around long enough. Maybe itís time to get rid of it and live the life you were meant to live filled with prosperity and abundance, a life that is rich and full.

The reality of this world we live in is that desire is the life force of energy streaming through us. It is our desires that keep us alive and magnetic. People without strong desires slowly whither away, living only shadow lives of who they were and who they were meant to be. The more you allow the energy of desire to flow through you, the more vibrant and alive you become, the more connected you feel, and life just gets better and better.

Allow that desire to flow through you. It is this flow of desire that creates a vibrational tempo within you. A tempo that is magnetic. Choose to control your vibrational response to anything and anyone and you change your life.

A few health tips to bring you even more abundance with a strong and healthy body.

One of my favorite foods is tomatoes so you can imagine how excited I was when I found out just how good they are for you. And something I didnít know, the canned ones are just as healthy as the fresh ones (maybe even a bit more so). So, hereís some health tips from Real Age:

Surprising Health Benefits of Tomatoes

We already love tomatoes for their heart-supportive powers. But new research on their lesser-known health gifts means you should eat them even more often. We're talking about gifts like protection against brittle bones, cancer, and even ultraviolet (UV) radiation.

So no matter how you slice Ďem, put extra 'maters on your sandwiches, salads, and pizzas, too. Yep, tomatoes seem to do it all, probably thanks to their nutritional profile. They're a rich source of lycopene, beta carotene, lutein, potassium, and vitamins C and A -- nutrients known to help fight inflammation and confer these stellar health benefits:

  • Extra SPF for skin: Studies have shown that skin becomes less sensitive to UV light damage when lycopene intake is increased through tomato-paste consumption. Here are four other foods that help provide sun protection.

    • Give your skin inside-out protection from the sun by putting these four items into your shopping cart: pomegranates, tomatoes, dark chocolate, and tea.

      The antioxidants in this tasty quartet of treats may help thwart skin cancer, according to John La Puma, MD, author of ChefMD's Big Book of Culinary Medicine.

    Sun block Effects. No food can replace the awesome sun-busting power of sunscreen, but some foods may work their way from the inside out to give your skin a little extra protection.

    The antioxidants in pomegranates, tomatoes, dark chocolate, and tea "can migrate to upper layers of your skin, bolstering resistance to ultraviolet damage," La Puma writes.

    Canned Advantage? Fresh, ripe tomatoes aren't easy to come by year-round. But canned tomatoes are just as good for you -- possibly even better. The cooking and canning process may increase the bioavailability of lycopene, so your body gets even more. Add a little bit of olive oil and you'll absorb still more.

  • Extra strength for bones. Higher lycopene intakes have been linked to better bone mass in studies. And a deficiency may mean weaker bones; women with osteoporosis typically have low blood levels of lycopene. If you want healthier bones, in addition to tomatoes, add this grain to your dinner:

    • Brown rice contains one of the best kept secrets of bone health: magnesium.

    Yes, calcium is still key when it comes to keeping bones strong. But magnesium -- something lots of older adults don't get enough of -- is another bone builder your body needs. And brown rice is a great source.

    In addition, here are three more bone builders:

    • Calcium: 1,200 milligrams (mg) of calcium per day (broken up into three doses a day).

    • Vitamin D: 400 international units (IU) per day (as a supplement) if you're under age 70, or 600 IU per day if you're over age 70.

    • Magnesium: 400 mg per day for women and 333 mg per day for men.

    More Foods for Your Frame . Soy lovers also get a good amount of magnesium, but if tofu isn't your thing, opt not only for brown rice but also for spinach and other green leafy vegetables; salmon; fortified cereals; whole-wheat pasta; oatmeal, and cashews.

  • Extra protection from cancer: Although the cancer protection powers of tomatoes are still under investigation, research suggests that the lycopene in tomatoes may slow the growth of some prostate tumors. In addition, hereís another fruit that helps thwart cancer:

    • Prevent Colon Cancer -- Eat More Apples
      Like a crime wave, colon cancer starts when a few bad-guy cells go wild. But munching on sweet, juicy apples could help keep those troublemakers in line.

      Credit quercetin, a cancer-fighting flavonoid found in abundance in apples. In a lab study, this anticancer compound appeared to slap the handcuffs on precancerous cells, keeping them from dividing, and even encouraging them to die off. Quercetin seems to work by controlling levels of cancer-fueling inflammation. And if it has the same effect in human subjects -- as lab studies using human cells suggest it might -- then loading up on quercetin-rich produce could lower colon cancer risk anywhere from 6 percent to 35 percent, researchers posit.

      Maybe it isn't just the fiber in fruits and vegetables that helps keep your colon healthy. Maybe it's also the quercetin and other healthy nutrients you get not only from apples but from onions, green and black tea, and buckwheat, too. Either way, your colon thanks you.

      So keep on fighting the good fight with these other colon-friendly treats:
      • Whole grains: Fiber doesn't take all the credit here. It's also the vitamins, minerals, and cell-protective phenols that help.

      • Bananas: It's the B6 that may have colon-protective powers.

      • Seafood: Fish and shrimp eaters tend to have healthier colons.

      • Garlic, leeks, and chives: This savory family guards against a whole bunch of cancers.
