May is here. Welcome to Beltane and the most celebrated of the Pagan high sabbats. This is the time of year to welcome and share life, love, abundance and all the gifts of the Goddess. True, any time is the right time -- yet this is when it's easiest to remember.
For those of us not interested in Pagan beliefs, believe in May Day and new beginnings. That’s what this newsletter and all my newsletters are all about. Giving you the ways and means to get a new beginning any time you are ready.
So, I hope you all are having and will have a wonderful May. If you are not, I have included a new article to help you share in the meaning of what May is all about. Life force, abundance and bringing to you all that you desire.
Sit back, read and enjoy
What You Resist Persists
“What you resist not only persists, but will grow in size.” ~ Carl Gustav Jung
Society has taught us that to get rid of whatever it is we do not want; we must fight it and resist it. We must never show weakness and we must never lose our focus on that thing we want to get rid of.
This thought and belief has been responsible for so much damage and has caused so much pain.
The law of attraction has shown that when you focus your thoughts on something, on one specific thing, it is that thing that you will attract to yourself, whether it is what you want or what you do not want. When you start to think of something, you also set in motion the vibrations that will attract whatever it is you are focusing on to you.
Do not misunderstand what I am saying. We still need to fight for what we want. We still need to fight for what is right and just. We still need to fight for those who cannot fight for themselves. But you cannot allow your thoughts and those images of what it is you do not want to continuously flow through your mind.
Let’s take the man or woman who has been in one bad
relationship after another. Since one of the most common problems is cheating, we’ll say that this is what their partners always seem to do. They meet someone, they think they are falling in love and then they find out that their partner has slept with someone else. When something like that happens, it is all you can think about. It is all you focus on. And, for a while that is OK. When a relationship ends, you will go through the stages of loss. That is normal and natural and must be done in order to move on.
Unfortunately, however, too many of us get stuck in that place where no matter what we are doing, images of our partner with someone else keep returning. We just can’t seem to let it go. Finally, though, after a while that fades and we decide it is time for a new relationship; BUT, “it better not be with someone who cheats on me.”.
“I don’t want a man (or woman) who lies and plays around every chance they get.” See, that’s the way our minds usually work. Unfortunately, by doing just that, by thinking about what it is you do not want, that is exactly what you are bringing to yourself and that is one of the reasons why we see people who go from one bad relationship to another. And, not only that, but the relationships seem to actually get worse. There’s a reason why they get worse.
That reason is because by continuously thinking about what it is you do not want, you have given it strength. You have developed that neuro pathway into a highway. A highway that will keep bringing you the same type of person.
Remember, though, it is our desires that keep us alive and magnetic. People without strong desires slowly wither away, living only shadow lives of whom they were and who they were meant to be. Instead, use that desire to drive you and use it to teach yourself to focus on what it is you want, not what it is you do not want.
The more you allow that desire and that life force to flow through you, the more vibrant, and alive and connected you become to your life, and it will get better and better. Feed that desire with your dreams and your visualizations. For every negative thought or image that comes into your mind, take the time and take control of your thoughts to think 100 times more about your hopes, dreams and desires. Take the time to remember each and every good thing that has happened not only throughout the day, but throughout your life. Every single thing that has made you laugh and feel all warm and toasty inside.
If you allow those good thoughts and images into your mind, you will develop the neuro pathway that they travel on and you will turn it into a highway. Just as you can help strengthen and develop a highway, you can also weaken and turn a highway into a dirt path. You do this simply by not using it. By not thinking that thought or reliving that event or imagining that scene. Let it go and it will wither and die.
I know this is hard but with practice it does become easier and easier. Meditation helps, hypnosis even faster. But, there are things you can do yourself to take back control of the highways and byways in your mind. Use anything and everything at your disposal to remind you of your dreams. Cut out pictures, write your dreams in a journal, meditate, read something inspirational and get help “talking” to your subconscious with the aid of hypnotherapy.
Hypnosis works because it allows the body and mind to completely relax and it is with relaxation that we heal, that we allow our life force to flow freely though our bodies and our minds. We stop resisting and we stop fighting. This seems like a contradiction I know. But if you can trust in your subconscious and in the Universe, just trust that they want you healthy and happy; it will start to flow on those neuro pathways I was talking about. It will flow and it will gather strength. Think about all the rivers in our world. Each one started as just a trickle. It is the constant flowing that gives them strength.
I’d like you to try a little exercise. Just give it a try, what harm can it do?
Today, and just fore this one day, make the choice not to fight against everything. Choose not to fight against the whole universe. Choose to just allow things to happen in your life, just for this one day. Choose to trust that by allowing things to happen and by allowing your thoughts to take you to good places and happy memories. By doing that you are also allowing yourself to grow.
If you do this, you will set in motion a series of events, thoughts and ideas that will ultimately bring you some clarity about exactly what it is you want and need.
This is an exercise you should add into your routine. It isn’t one you must do all the time, but every now and then, choose not to fight against everything. Choose to flow with the world around you. Choose to relax and in that relaxation choose to use a bit of positive visual imagery, choose to listen to some positive suggestions. Choose to write down some of the things that you want, remember though, only those things that you want. And, if you ever feel like you can’t handle your current situation, take a moment to make yourself feel better by simply paying attention to your breathing. If you do this, you will shift your attention from all that might have been going wrong in the past to the present moment.
Once you are back into the present that is when you can again relax and in that relaxation allow the positive, vibrant and empowering thoughts to flow again. Once that has happened use visual imagery to help you stay there bringing to you all that you want.

If your mind drifts during the day, lighten up.
Bright lights increase both alertness and perception. You may actually work better and think sharper. Here's how it works. You know bright lights can keep you awake at night. But turn 'em on during the day and you've got an instant brain boost. Although one study suggested that blue light provides the biggest boost, any kind of light will do. The light has a direct impact on areas of the brain that are involved in alertness.
Still not enlightened? Here's more: Research shows that bright-light therapy can also perk you up if you experience excessive daytime sleepiness. It works by getting your brain's internal clock and sleep/wake cycle in sync, so that sleep and wakefulness occur at the appropriate times.
Wouldn't it be nice to be impervious to stress? A buff bod helps.
Your blood pressure returns to normal more quickly after a stressful event if your muscles are toned. Think of it this way: Muscles are like a defense shield for your arteries. And there are more ways to control high blood pressure.
Giggle, snort, and laugh till it hurts. You -- and everyone around you -- will be healthier.
In a recent study, sounds of laughter or cheering triggered strong brain activity in listeners, particularly the brain areas that control the muscles of the face -- which means listeners were primed to smile or laugh, too. The response was automatic -- and contagious.
Get this: If you think the years ahead will be better than the years behind, they will be.
But if you expect your health to decline with age, you may actually encourage that to happen. How? By taking a why-bother attitude, especially about staying fit. Instead, buck the odds and stay active, no matter how old you are, 39, 59, or even 99 -- an age you should aim to reach. And this goes for your emotions and mood as well. Think you’re going to be depressed and odds are you will be.
Imagine this: You're on a beach, with a cold drink in one hand and the latest best-selling novel in the other.
The salty beach breeze kisses your face while the ocean tickles your toes. You hear gulls talking, waves crashing, and the steel-drum band jamming. Feel like paradise? Great. That quick mental picture just improved your brain function. Keep your brain flexible by setting aside time each day to daydream about whatever you like.
When you hear the word "plastic," you might think of Tupperware, Barbie dolls, and smooth-skinned celebrities.
But plastic isn't a bad word, neurologically speaking. Brain plasticity is how scientists describe your brain's ability to reorganize neural pathways as a result of new experiences. In plainer terms, a plastic brain will learn -- and retain and use -- information better. So what's the price of plastic? About the cost of a pair of walking shoes. People who are fit have more plastic brains.
